Italian warm salad with pasta, tomatoes, mozzarella and basil - a simple recipe of the famous Mediterranean diet. This pasta salad recipe is based on Caprese salad - probably the most loved Italian salad. Warm or cold pasta salad this is a good idea for the healthy lunch for the whole family, for a picnic or a dinner with friends.

Ingredients

  • 320 g Pasta (Penne Rigate or any short pasta)
  • 250 g of Small Tomatoes
  • 100 g of Pitted Olives
  • 150 g of Mozzarella
  • 2 Basil sprigs
  • Olive oil
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Cut tomatoes in half or into quarters, depending on size.
  2. Cut mozzarella into small pieces.
  3. Slice the olives.
  4. Put the tomatoes, olives and mozzarella in a large bowl.
  5. Chop the basil leaves, add to the bowl.
  6. Cook the pasta in a large amount of salted boiling water strictly according to the time indicated on the package. Drain the pasta in a colander and add into the bowl, with tomatoes and mozzarella.
  7. Salt, pour olive oil, mix and serve immediately.

Chef’s Tips

  • If you want to make this salad as a cold salad, drain the pasta and put it in another bowl, add olive oil, mix and leave to cool. Then add in a bowl with tomatoes and mozzarella, salt, mix and leave in the fridge for 15-20 minutes.
